Battlefront is the next game in my list which has also taken the throne from Destiny. First of all let me say that this is amazing looking game. I’m playing on PS4 and its up there with the best looking games on the console. Jakku, Endor and Hoth all look stunning and the latter pair are exactly how you remember them from childhood. I would be amiss if i also didn’t mention the excellent audio element to this game. Every sound down to the last blaster is re created amazingly and it just makes the whole experience feel, well like Star Wars.
The basic gameplay is battlefield with slightly altered modes. All told there are 12 game modes with varying objective types. My favourite ones rotate around the larger scale battles with 20 vs 20. These comprises of capturing or defending areas on a map until its defeated or time outed. Within these maps there are AT-AT, AT-ST and Tie fighters on the Empire side , while the rebels have access to A wing, X wings and land speeders. All of these are pick up special items littered through the battlefield.
The game features a card based item system. These add unique weapons such as grenades, 1 hit sniper rifles and homing shoots among many more. They add a unique way for players to customise their style of play and as you rank up you gain access to higher power items.Another nice feature in game is the buddy system. Each time you start a game you are joined with another player who is coloured yellow on your radar. You can spawn on this partner after death and it means your never too far from the action. Only slightly issue is sometimes this doesn’t quite work as expected and you lose the ability to spawn on your buddy. I assume this will be fixed by patch.
As i previously mentioned my favourite are the large scale 20 vs 20. These really make you feel like you are in battlefield with lasers and explosion going off all around you. Sometimes its hard not to just stop and admire the scenes which you always imagined as a child. I have just managed to play my first few games with my clan members and its an absolute blast. In some ways the game is simply but it perhaps this focus on the bare basics which really allows the gameplay to shine. My favourite map is the Jakku DLC which is set before the Force Awakens movie. Its also a free DLC which is great. I hope to get some more time with the game in the coming weeks and do an update on how i feel about the game after extended play.
